Baseball Recap: Mendenhall Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Mendenhall faced off against Forest on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 9-5 win over the Bearcats. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won six in a row.

Easton Benton looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Jeremiah Magee was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Mendenhall's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Jeremy Butts was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mendenhall's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Forest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mendenhall beat the Bearcats by a score of 16-6 later that day.
