Basketball Recap: Cumberland Skates Past Heritage with Ease

Cumberland won the last time they faced Heritage and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cumberland Pirates breezed by the Heritage Hawks to the tune of 53-9. With the Pirates ahead 34-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Cumberland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Stewart, who went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Venatta, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points and four steals.

Cumberland was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only racked up one assist.

Cumberland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Heritage, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14.

Cumberland has already played their next game, a 46-43 win against Okaw Valley on the 23rd. As for Heritage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 51-44 defeat against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond on the 24th.
