Softball Game Preview: Grants Pirates vs. Capital Jaguars

Grants hasn't had much luck against Capital recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Jaguars at 3:00 p.m. Grants has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grants fell victim to St. Pius X and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 11-0 to the Sartans. The Pirates just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, Capital unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Thursday. Neither they nor Los Alamos could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 4-4 tie.

Capital's draw makes their record 9-4-1 this season. As for Grants, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Grants hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
