Basketball Recap: Holmen Drops Season-High Score on Sparta

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holmen). They took down the Sparta Spartans 68-50 on Tuesday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Sparta's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elexa Jones, who posted 12 points and six rebounds, and Cecilia Hemmersbach, who had seven points. Hemmersbach continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Mickelson, who earned four points.

Holmen's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Sparta, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Looking ahead, Holmen will take on La Crosse Central at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sparta, they will head out to face off against Tomah at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
