Baseball Recap: Marshall County Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Marshall County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Logan County Cougars 4-3. For the Marshals, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

Mitchell Reid looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs but no hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hudson Doughty, who went 4-for-5 with one home run and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Marshall County's record is now 14-6. As for Logan County, they moved to 14-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Marshall County will take on Ballard Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bombers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Marshals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Logan County, they will face off against Metcalfe County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
