York hasn't had much luck against Grafton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Clippers at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (York has three straight victories, Grafton has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
York barely beat Tabb the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Sarah Witt and Bri Petrolia were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Witt didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Petrolia pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Witt went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Petrolia scored a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Ella Thurman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Leslee Maldonado was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Grafton lost 7-1 to Warhill on Wednesday.
York now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Grafton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Grafton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: York has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .536. It's a different story for Grafton, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain York's hitters?
York might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Grafton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
