Baseball Recap: Montgomery Takes a Loss

Montgomery fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Southeast Career Tech on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Roadrunners by a score of 3-2.

Montgomery got a good showing from Julian Martinez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Martinez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Montgomery saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Ruvalcaba, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Montgomery now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Southeast Career Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery will venture away from home to face off against Santana at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southeast Career Tech, they will take on Cheyenne at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Desert Shields' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Roadrunners' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
