Volleyball Recap: Barr-Reeve Falls to Center Grove in First Game of Season

Barr-Reeve unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Center Grove Trojans on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since September 12, 2024.

While Barr-Reeve had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 25-20.

Lora Graber and Hallie Knepp certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Graber had ten digs and two aces, while Knepp had five digs and one block. Knepp has been hot for a while, having also posted 15 or more assists the last 16 times she's played.

Center Grove can attribute much of their success to Avery Bastein, who had seven digs and two aces.

Looking ahead, Barr-Reeve will host Castle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Center Grove, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Trinity Lutheran on the 18th.
