It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Troy had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Franklin Lions with a sharp 15-5 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 22 contests by six runs or more this season.
Isabella Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jae Jae Phillips was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Amato, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI and one run.
Troy pushed their record up to 25-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 29-6-2.
Troy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-1 win against Huntington on the 10th. Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
