Basketball Recap: Nickerson Panthers vs. Halstead Dragons
The Nickerson Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 64-53 win over Halstead. Nickerson didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Nickerson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Skyler Wakefield out in front who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashawn Walker, who scored 11 points.
Nickerson's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Halstead, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Nickerson will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Smoky Valley is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Halstead, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Larned is ranked 266th, while the Dragons are ranked 277th).
