Basketball Recap: Mineral Ridge Comes Up Short

It was fun while it lasted, but Mineral Ridge's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Thursday. They took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Waterloo Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 43-24 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Despite the loss, Mineral Ridge still got an impressive performance from Chase Moore, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Moore is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. Jordon Moore was another key player, putting up four points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mineral Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mineral Ridge fell to 3-1. As for Waterloo, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mineral Ridge will take on Lordstown in a holiday battle at at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Waterloo, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against McDonald at 7:00 p.m. Waterloo has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
