Recap: Jefferson City Jays vs. Tipton Cardinals
It was a good run, but the Jefferson City Jays unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. The match between Jefferson City and Tipton wasn't particularly close, with Jefferson City falling 65-48. While losing is never fun, Jefferson City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Tipton is ranked 21st).
Tipton was led to victory by Charlee Bailey and Ava Schlotzhauer. Bailey dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 assists, while Schlotzhauer dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bailey posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Edwards, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Jefferson City's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Tipton, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson City will face off against Lee's Summit West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tipton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lincoln at 6:45 p.m. on January 18th.
