Last Friday, Cristo Rey Research Triangle came up short against Carolina Friends and fell 46-38.
Christian Gill put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Immanuel Holland, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Vance County was able to grind out a solid victory over J.F. Webb on Friday, taking the game 58-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Vance County.
Vance County can attribute much of their success to Khaleel Harvey, who scored 19 points. Taeshawn Alston was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Cristo Rey Research Triangle now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Vance County, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-6.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Cristo Rey Research Triangle have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Vance County, though, as they've been averaging only 29.2 rebounds per game. Given Cristo Rey Research Triangle's sizeable advantage in that area, Vance County will need to find a way to close that gap.
