Basketball Recap: Frewsburg Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Drake Beckstrom and Isaac Hultberg

Frewsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ellicottville Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 57-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Frewsburg had strong showings from Isaac Hultberg, who went 6-for-12 en route to 16 points along with six boards and five steals, and Drake Beckstrom, who posted eight points and 13 rebounds. Hultberg has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Trent Lewis was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Frewsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Ellicottville, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Frewsburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-41 loss against Westfield on the 13th. Ellicottville will take on Cuba-Rushford in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
