Basketball Recap: Wamego Comes Up Short

Wamego lost against Abilene back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wamego Red Raiders had to suffer through a 76-32 loss at the hands of the Abilene Cowboys. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Cowboys are ranked 87th).

Wamego has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Abilene, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Wamego has already played their next match (against Rock Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Abilene will face off against Halstead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Abilene knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Halstead likes a good challenge.
