Basketball Recap: Manning Starts Season with Loss at Home

Manning unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 56-38 fall against the South Florence Bruins on Monday. The Monarchs were down 49-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Manning's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lovell Stevenson, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards, and Kaylin Weeks, who posted three points and 12 rebounds. Stevenson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Manning has already played their next matchup, a 57-50 win against Socastee on the 25th. As for South Florence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-53 victory against Lake City on the 1st.
