Basketball Recap: Millard North Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bellevue West

It's playoff time, and Millard North had no trouble coming through when it counted. They enjoyed a cozy 62-44 win over the Bellevue West Thunderbirds on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Millard North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amari Rahaman, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 14 points and seven assists. Derek Rollins was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Rahaman wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Millard North was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellevue West only six assists.

Bellevue West's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Johnson Jr, who shot 42% from the field en route to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Mauro, who posted ten points and three steals.

Millard North's record is now 19-6. As for Bellevue West, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-8.

Looking ahead, Millard North will take on Papillion-LaVista South at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Papillion-LaVista South knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Millard North likes a good challenge. Bellevue West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
