Volleyball Recap: Verrado's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

If Verrado was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Buckeye on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vipers fell 2-0 to the Liberty Lions on Friday. The Vipers were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in October of 2023.

Alyssa Ortiz paced Verrado's offense, picking up six kills. Ortiz got some help from Baylee Wakeham and her nine assists. Wakeham was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

With the defeat, Verrado broke their four-match winning streak and moved their record to 14-10. As for Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Verrado didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Corona del Sol on the 10th. As for Liberty, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Shadow Ridge on the 10th.
