Baseball Game Preview: Northfield Norsemen vs. Wabash Apaches

Northfield is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will face off against the Wabash Apaches at 7:00 p.m. Northfield is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Caston hit Northfield with a seven-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Norsemen took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comets.

Kam Pratt was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Branson Hayslett was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wabash). They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Elwood on Tuesday. The Apaches haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Carter Booth, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Baker, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

The win got Wabash back to even at 5-5. As for Northfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Northfield might still be hurting after the 15-1 loss they got from Wabash in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Norsemen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
