Baseball Recap: Blue Valley North Wins Going Away Against Lee's Summit

Blue Valley North had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Lee's Summit on Friday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Tigers. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 13-3 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2021.

Trey Weixeldorfer looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Holden Groebl was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Jaden Loehr-Chase was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Blue Valley North has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lee's Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.

Blue Valley North has already played their next match (against Jefferson City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Lee's Summit, they will head out on the road to challenge St. James Academy at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
