Evansville Mater Dei had won three straight at home, but on Saturday they bumped their record up to 17-6 to make it four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Gibson Southern Titans. The Wildcats have beaten the Titans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Titans has come to flipping the script.

As for Gibson Southern, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 20-6 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 14th.

For Gibson Southern's part, Seth Parsons made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Parsons has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brayden Campbell, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
