Baseball Recap: Wagoner Triumphs

Wagoner's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Vinita Hornets. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Eli Hopping was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Judd Edwards, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kale Charboneau, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Wagoner's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Vinita, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Wagoner will have a chance to go back-to-back against Vinita: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
