Baseball Recap: Harmony Area Comes Up Short

Harmony Area had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it four. They lost 17-2 to the West Branch Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 back in April.

Harmony Area saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Doland, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for West Branch, their record is now 12-8. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season.

On West Branch's side, Logan Liptak and Lukas Colton made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Liptak didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Colton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Liptak went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Colton went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Colton has posted over his last 11 games.

In other batting news, Coby Kephart was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. West Branch is 8-2 when Kephart posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Nick Parks was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Harmony Area will challenge Curwensville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Owls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Tide have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. West Branch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
