Valley View has gone 8-2 against Oakwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Spartans will venture away from home to take on the Lumberjacks at 5:00 p.m.

Valley View came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Monroe, falling 10-4. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jillian Shell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Oakwood came out on top against Archbishop Alter on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Lumberjacks took their match against the Knights 5-2. The Lumberjacks haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ava Crawford was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Reed Archdeacon and Carmen Dinkler did most of the damage at the plate: Archdeacon went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Dinkler went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Dinkler a new career-high.

Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Oakwood, their record now sits at 6-15.

Valley View suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Oakwood when the teams last played back in April. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
