Recap: Grimsley Whirlies vs. Page Pirates

The Grimsley Whirlies waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 66-55 win over Page. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Grimsley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Faizon Brandon led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Nick Keith was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight assists.

Grimsley pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Page, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Grimsley will take on Southwest Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Guilford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 matchups -- so hopefully Grimsley likes a good challenge. As for Page, they will head out on the road to challenge Northern Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Page is ranked 134th, while Northern Guilford is ranked 117th).
