Recap: Sherwood Warriors vs. Paint Branch Panthers

The Sherwood Warriors came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 50-46 victory over Paint Branch. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sherwood also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Sherwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Anderson led the charge by scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. That's the first time this season that Anderson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Aubree Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Sherwood's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Paint Branch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Sherwood will be playing at home against Poolesville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Paint Branch will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Walter Johnson at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Walter Johnson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday.
