Volleyball Game Preview: Irondequoit Eagles vs. Gates Chili Spartans

After both having extra time off, the Irondequoit Eagles and the Gates Chili Spartans will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Irondequoit is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New York's top teams: Penfield, who was ranked first at the time (Irondequoit was ranked 13th). The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Patriots on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Gates Chili didn't have quite enough to beat Webster Schroeder on Friday and fell 3-2. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Gates Chili's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Irondequoit, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Irondequoit couldn't quite get it done against Gates Chili when the teams last played back in September of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
