Preview: Red Level Tigers vs. Straughn Tigers
The Red Level Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Straughn Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Red Level will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Straughn is ranked 143rd).
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Red Level, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-35 loss to Shields.
Meanwhile, Straughn had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They breezed by Pleasant Home on the road to the tune of 51-14. Straughn has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Ora Hall, who scored 13 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Allyx Williamson, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Red Level has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Straughn, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Red Level was dealt a bruising 52-23 loss at the hands of Straughn in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Straughn's Blakeley Smith, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Now that Red Level knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
