Softball Recap: Mcclintock Sets Scoring Season-High Against Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McClintock). They blew past the Central Bobcats 25-0 on Wednesday. Considering the Chargers have won nine matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Stefanie McCarty and Trinity Sepulveda made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, McCarty tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sepulveda tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. McCarty has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, McCarty scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Sepulveda scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave McCarty a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arieana Sepulveda, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Nora Fincher was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

McClintock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

McClintock is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

McClintock has already played their next match, a 31-7 win against Alhambra on the 11th. As for Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-0 loss against Independence on the 10th.
