Football Recap: Cambridge Comes Up Short

After flying high against Centennial two weeks ago, Cambridge came back down to earth. The Bears were outmatched by the Kell Longhorns and fell 45-18. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Cambridge still got an impressive performance from Brooks Malone, who rushed for 62 yards and a pair of TDs.

Moonie Gipson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Kell, rushing for 251 yards and four scores while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Gipson has posted since back in October of 2024. Kaleb Narcisse was another key player, rushing for 85 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

Cambridge's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Kell, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Coming up, Cambridge will welcome Blessed Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' defense has only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, so the Bears' offense will have their work cut out for them. Kell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
