Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Midlothian). They snuck past the Huguenot Falcons with a 72-68 win on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

When it comes to explaining why Huguenot lost, don't look at Trevion Brown. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Brown has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Kaemon Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Midlothian's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Huguenot, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Midlothian and Huguenot could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Midlothian (ranked 288th) will meet Powhatan (ranked 138th) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Midlothian is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Similarly, Huguenot will challenge Manchester at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday down 159 places (240 vs. 81).
