Football Recap: Kemper County Takes Down J.Z. George in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Kemper County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the J.Z. George Jaguars 38-6 on Friday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Jaguars are ranked 228th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kemper County was led to victory by Damarius Yates and Gabriel Murray. Yates rushed for 216 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, while Murray rushed for 91 yards and one TD on only seven carries. What's more, Murray racked up 134.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kemper County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 358 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards in nine consecutive matchups.

Kemper County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.3 points over those games. As for J.Z. George, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Kemper County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 38-14 victory against Water Valley on the 14th. J.Z. George does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
