Baseball Recap: Loyola College Prep Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

Loyola College Prep took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Northwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Flyers won by a run and slipped past the Falcons 9-8. This was payback for the Flyers, who suffered a 13-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hayden Horton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Pickett, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was John Luke Lauve, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Loyola College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Northwood, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-4.
