The Bayside Marlins will square off against the Cox Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bayside knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Cox likes a good challenge.
Bayside came out on top against Tallwood on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Marlins blew past the Lions 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Marlins, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kennedy Allen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.
In other pitching news, Carli Melton looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Bayside got a massive performance out of Kayleigh Leeland-Powell, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Leeland-Powell a new career-high. Hannah Kirschman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Bayside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cox's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kempsville on Tuesday. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Cox saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lindsey Baber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Cox's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Bayside, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Bayside came up short against Cox when the teams last played back in March, falling 7-2. Will the Marlins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
