Volleyball Game Preview: Needville Bluejays vs. Friendswood Mustangs

The Needville Bluejays will face off against the Friendswood Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Needville comes in on six and Friendswood on three.

Needville had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt St. John XXIII on Friday. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 3-0 victory. The contest marked the Bluejays' most dominant win of the season so far.

One reason for the win was Needville's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Friendswood was able to grind out a solid victory over Clear Falls on Friday, taking the game 3-1.

Friendswood had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-19, 25-8, 25-11.

Friendswood's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Needville, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.

Needville couldn't quite get it done against Friendswood when the teams last played back in August of 2021 as they fell 2-0. Can the Bluejays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
