Softball Recap: Northwest Starts off Right with Win over Hanover-Horton

Northwest gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Hanover-Horton Comets. The win continues a trend for the Mounties in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Lucy Bivens (2025), who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Hanover-Horton off the board.

At the plate, Ava Golightly (2025) was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Hanover-Horton's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Northwest and Hanover-Horton will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Mounties will square off against rival Western at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hanover-Horton is set to challenge their familiar foe East Jackson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
