Basketball Recap: Ridgefield Memorial Gets the Win

While Ridgefield Memorial didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They escaped with a win on Wednesday against the Weehawken Indians by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54. The win was all the more spectacular given the Royals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Indians are ranked 19th).

Ridgefield Memorial has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Weehawken, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-1.

When Ridgefield Memorial and Weehawken next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Ridgefield Memorial will try to stop Dwight-Englewood's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Weehawken will challenge Lyndhurst and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
