Football Recap: Sam Houston Comes Up Short

Sam Houston extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They had to suffer through a 50-7 loss at the hands of the Tivy Antlers. The Hurricanes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Antlers from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

As for Tivy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Tivy found their leader in sophomore Kyrin Armelin, who picked up 162 receiving yards and four scores. Armelin's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards. Aiden Zavala was in the mix too, providing Tivy with two touchdowns.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sam Houston will venture away from home to take on Brackenridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.25 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Tivy, they will take on Harlandale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Antlers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
