Softball Game Preview: North Posey Vikings vs. South Spencer Rebels

The North Posey Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the South Spencer Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Posey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

North Posey fell victim to Barr-Reeve and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of Barr-Reeve by a score of 1-0. That's two games in a row now that North Posey has lost by just one run.

Alyssa Heath spent all 9.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, North Posey saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Lavanchy, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, South Spencer came up short against Tell City on Monday and fell 6-3. The Rebels have struggled against the Marksmen recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

This is the second loss in a row for North Posey and nudges their season record down to 15-6. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for South Spencer, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

North Posey took their win against South Spencer when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
