Recap: Handley Tigers vs. St. Michael Catholic Cardinals
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Handley Tigers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by St. Michael Catholic at home to the tune of 68-38. Considering Handley has won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
St. Michael Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Gunner Rivers, who threw for 516 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Tomlinson, who picked up 250 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Handley has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.58 points. As for St. Michael Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Handley will face off against Booker T. Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
