Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Las Cruces

Las Cruces hadn't done well against Organ Mountain recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bulldawgs put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 15-4 victory. Considering the Bulldawgs have won ten matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Amaya Pinedo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season.

At the plate, Erica Silva and Zaysha Hawkins did most of the damage at the plate: Silva got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and five runs, while Hawkins went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Silva has posted since back in March of 2024. Denae DiMatteo was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run.

Las Cruces was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Organ Mountain only posted a batting average of .250.

Las Cruces pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Organ Mountain, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5-1.

Las Cruces will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair will be back at it again later today.
