Basketball Recap: Decatur Community Starts Season with Win at Home

Decatur Community took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Triplains/Brewster Titans 62-20. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Red Devils had established a 38-point advantage.

Gage Williby went supernova, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave him a new career-high. Brady Gehring was another key player, shooting 42% from the field en route to 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.

Decatur Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triplains/Brewster only posted four.

Decatur Community and Triplains/Brewster will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Red Devils are set to face off against their familiar foe Rawlins County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Triplains/Brewster will take on rival Northern Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
