Rome Free Academy proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 18) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Whitesboro Warriors. For the Black Knights, this counts as revenge for the 5-2 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Emelia Szymanski looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Haylee Bostwick was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Makayla Howard was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
