Basketball Game Preview: Kimball/White Lake Wildkats vs. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans

Kimball/White Lake is 1-7 against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Kimball/White Lake Wildkats will head out to take on the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans at 7:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Kimball/White Lake lost to Bridgewater/Emery at home by a 51-35 margin.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 45-25 margin over the Pheasants. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Pheasants are ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Vernon/Plankinton's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Kimball/White Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Kimball/White Lake might still be hurting after the 80-57 loss they got from Mt. Vernon/Plankinton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Kimball/White Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
