Baseball Recap: Hampton Roads Academy Wins Going Away Against Christchurch School

While Hampton Roads Academy put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Christchurch School. Hampton Roads Academy blew past Christchurch School 9-0. The result was nothing new for the Navigators, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Tyler Motley was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over eight innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double. He has become a key player for Hampton Roads Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Hampton Roads Academy let Sam Overman and Elijah Williams run wild. Overman scored a run and stole a base, while Williams scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Drew Lee was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Hampton Roads Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Hampton Roads Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Christchurch School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Hampton Roads Academy will welcome Peninsula Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Peninsula Catholic has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something Hampton Roads Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Christchurch School, they will head out to square off against Walsingham Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Walsingham Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Christchurch School's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
