Basketball Recap: Oakland Military Institute Takes a Loss

If Oakland Military Institute was feeling good fresh off their 64-24 takedown of Summit Tamalpais last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oakland Military Institute Grizzlies took a blow against the Drew Dragons on Tuesday, falling 80-36. The Grizzlies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Drew's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rafa Ledesma, who went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Ledesma a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Ordonez Reyes, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points.

Oakland Military Institute has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Drew, their record is now 8-13.

Oakland Military Institute will host Summit Tamalpais at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Drew, they will square off against Jewish Community at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
