Volleyball Recap: Bellmont Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Bellmont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against the South Adams Starfires by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Braves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bellmont got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 30-28, 23-25, 25-14.

MaryKate Scheumann paced Bellmont's offense, picking up 29 kills. Scheumann got some help from Gracie Riggs and her 25 assists. Riggs was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Despite the defeat, South Adams saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charlee Bollenbacher had 15 digs. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Bollenbacher.

Bellmont's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. As for South Adams, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.

Looking ahead, Bellmont will take on Westfield in a tournament on Saturday. As for South Adams, they will venture away from home to take on Norwell at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
