Baseball Recap: Corning Cardinals vs. Live Oak Lions
Corning extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-16 in the process. They came up short against the Live Oak Lions, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 on Tuesday.
Corning saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Cordova, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
As for Live Oak, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. Considering they have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Live Oak's side, Farron Gomez and Bradley Perigo were major factors no matter where they played. Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corning will square off against Las Plumas at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
