Volleyball Recap: Athens Drive Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Athens Drive was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Fuquay - Varina Bengals. The Jaguars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bengals from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Athens Drive was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Fuquay - Varina work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-9, 25-23.

Athens Drive's offense was headlined by Izzy Martin and Mason Fernandez, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Annie Baublitz and her nine assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Athens Drive's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Fuquay - Varina, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Looking ahead, Athens Drive will challenge Cary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fuquay - Varina, they will square off against Holly Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
