Basketball Game Preview: New Paltz Huguenots vs. Rondout Valley Ganders

The New Paltz Huguenots will head out on the road to square off against the Rondout Valley Ganders at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

New Paltz will head out to face Rondout Valley after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. New Paltz took a 44-30 bruising from Spackenkill.

Despite the defeat, New Paltz saw an underclassman step up: freshman Callie Meyer posted seven points along with six boards and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Meyer. The team also got some help courtesy of Heather Culp, who had ten points.

Even though they lost, New Paltz smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Rondout Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Red Hook, falling 62-34.

New Paltz's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Rondout Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

New Paltz beat Rondout Valley 50-38 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will New Paltz repeat their success, or does Rondout Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
